Next Meeting: May 4, 2017

Annual End of the Year Party! Refreshments will be served. Bring your quilts to share at Show and Tell. Donations to the Arbors Baby Shower will be collected.

Baby Shower Event at the Arbors on May 23rd.

Date & Time: Tuesday, May 23rd at 2pm
Place: Arbors Assisted Living, 45 Jericho Turnpike, Jericho NY 11753
This baby shower has all the trimmings of a typical baby shower—food, games and gifts—however, the proceeds will go to a group of new mothers that have been referred to Lutheran Family and Community Services, a national non-denominational organization.

The Arbors Quilt Club has sewn many baby quilts to be donated.

ESQ members are invited to join the event. Please bring a baby item along with you to donate. If you are unable to attend, but would like to donate something, bring it to the May meeting. We are collecting all kinds of new and very gently used baby items—clothing, (size 0-24 mo.), diapers, rattles, books, bibs and all kinds of blankets! There will be a box labeled, “BABY SHOWER,” to collect the items for the shower.

What is My Grove?

My Grove is an on-line experience that allows social groups - in our case, quilt guilds - an opportunity to share with other guilds and other quilters.  It has been adopted by MAQGnet (Mid-Atlantic Quilt Guild network) as a means to disseminate information.  ESQ is a member of MAQGnet and as such each of our members is able to join, free of charge, and have information delivered to their email address.  This is not something you have to do, but it is certainly something you may want to do.  It keeps you more in touch with your local quilting community.  You can see other guild's newsletters, receive links to interesting articles or instructional videos, know when shows and meetings are taking place, etc.  If you join and you think you're getting too many emails in your in-box,  you can opt to only get one email a week.  All your information is kept completely private and not shared.  If you join and decide it's not for you, you can unsubscribe at any time.   If you would like to give My Grove a try, all you have to do is contact Cathy Peterson at CatCanQuilt@verizon.net, give her your email address and let her know you'd like to join.  You will receive an invitation to join from My Grove and you're on your way.

A BIG thank you goes out to the charter members who participated in the special Then and Now Show and Tell. Our guild was definitely treated to some eye candy. Some pictures of completed quilts by Pat Cacace, Ruth Case and Betty Belford can be found on My Grove.  And let's not forget those UFOs by Marie Arbucci! They are there, too. They were all stunning pieces of work by our long term members. Thank you for sharing, ladies!

ESQ strives to perpetuate the art and craft of quiltmaking through fellowship, education and service.

ESQ was founded in 2001 when a group of individuals who met in an adult education class wished to take their quilting journey further. From this small group, Evening Star Quilters now has 100 plus members from Nassau and Suffolk counties as well as the NYC boroughs. They range in quilting experience from “beginner” to “advanced.”

ESQ welcomes all. Please join us!
