At the end of August 2026 about 25 pet beds, made by members of ESQ, were donated to Last Hope Animal Shelter in Wantagh, NY. Another 10 pet beds were donated to Fabulous Felines, a rescue group that adopts out kittens from PetSupplies Plus, a local pet store in West Hempstead.

Last Hope was so grateful for these pet beds and has written a note. “Thank you for delivering in person the beautiful 25 mats and pillows made by the Evening Star Quilters of Mineola”. “Last Hope, Inc. is a non-profit 501( c ) (3) organization that rescues between 800 to 900 cats and dogs each year. Last Hope takes dogs in need from municipal shelters on Long Island and from poor rural areas in the southern US, whereas our cats come from many sources of distress. Through specific programs, Last Hope attempts to reduce the cat overpopulation problem on Long Island, encourage responsible and economical pet ownership, and aid pet owners in financial distress”. Thank you to all who donated; it is SO appreciated!!
